Welcome

WELCOME TO
Shiremanstown Borough

As school opens for the new school year, traffic safety is a high priority within the Borough. Main Street is a wide, two lane road with traffic in both directions. When a bus is stopped with the red lights flashing all traffic must stop.

The Pennsylvania Vehicle Code considers “pedi cycles (bicycles and e-bikes) as vehicles subject to school bus stop rules and the penalties for disregarding them.

Remember:
📌 Yellow flashing lights mean the bus is preparing to stop and you need to slow down.

📌 Red flashing lights indicate students are boarding or exiting the bus; come to a complete stop at least ten feet away and remain stopped until the bus starts moving again or the visual signals stop.

📌 Penalties for not stopping for a school bus include a $250 fine, license suspension, and points on your driving record.
